My name is Jesse, but you can call me Cactus. I am an artist born in Canada, and immigrated to the United States of America when I married my husband David, or IamBlackhawke. I have 2 beautiful dogs, Rodi [Belgian Malinois/English Mastiff] & Taco [Terrier/Chihuahua].My artwork is steeped in my love of characters, Fantastical and non-human alike. I draw NSFW as well as SFW illustrations, having to lean more into the former to create a living making art for myself.
I have been drawing since I could hold a crayon and noticed walls are suspiciously empty. My mom used to bring me old printer paper that was to be recycled so i could draw on the back. Notably, i have been drawing digitally and taking commissions since 2006, when i got my first Tablet, an Wacom Intuous 3.
I have 2 Artworks printed in the 2017 'The Chronicles of Exandria' Artbook for Critical Role.
My goal is to one day create my own comic book series around my Fantastical creatures, known as Viatores. Selling Prints, as well as branching into Streaming Artwork and Games has become a new passion - and i hope to continue to grow beyond that!

Where you can Support

CΔCTUS EMPORIUM

This is the Information site for the Discord-based Subscriptions -
You can visit SubscribeStar / Patreon/ Twitch and get automatic access to the Discord or, for Upgrade chat, join the discord!

I plan on moving my adventure and art mostly away from Patreon.
The site has become more and more of an issue, and with the lack of a possible alternatives - Upgrade.Chat is a system that connects into the Discord server - which works much the same as sites like Patreon and SubscribeStar with Tiers.
It also allows for online payments to purchase access into the Tiers, for those who want to support me monthly via a subscription.
Twitch's benefits will be mostly aligned on Twitch, but will grant you minimal access to my Supporter section in discord!

WHAT I OFFER:
Size: Thigh Up | Full Body
Finish: Sketch | Flat | Soft/Cell shaded | Full RenderBackground: Abstract/None | Simple | Fully Rendered

BACKGROUND DETAILS:Abstract/none: Can range from blank, flat colour, to a simple gradient.Simple: Despite the name, this type of background is a fully shaded scene. However it is blurred to shift the focus onto the character. There is often some element of the background in the foreground to “ground” the character, but it’s not extensive. For example... one or two boulders the character is holding onto, or some grass is poking in the edges.Fully Rendered: As the name suggests, full background. It’s fully rendered to the highest of my ability. Lighting, texture etc are all part of it. This type can often be the main reason the piece you order will take longer.

What will I draw:

◈ Humans
◈ Anthros
◈ Animal Companions
◈ Light machinery
◈ Light Gore (blood, scraps, shallow wound [cut in battle] thats it)
◈ Fan art
◈ Original Characters
◈ Light Bondage (collars, cuffs/leashes, Shibari)
◈ Hooters

What I will not draw:

◈ Inflation/Obesity
◈ Hyper
◈ Non con
◈ Micro/Macro
◈ Sexual Violence
◈ Heavy Gore - deep wounds, amputation, killing someone, etc
◈ Vore
◈ Cervical Penetration
◈ Cub\Scat\Humiliation
◈ Suicide\Self Harm
◈ Extreme fetishes of any kind
◈ Anything demeaning/offensive

In regards to Genitalia in NSFW Commissions --
I Draw Human Vaginas Only.
I will Draw Human / Canid / Horse / Dragon style Penis.

REVISIONS
I DO offer free revisions when I have missed a detail that was provided in the description. Things like forgetting an accessory or article of clothing, or some other important element that was included in your description. THESE REVISIONS HAPPEN IN SKETCH STAGES. [Also, I will change incorrect colors at no charge, such as drawing something red when it was described as blue, etc.]
MINOR revisions can happen in line art stage. I will not redraw something in its entirety.
I DO NOT offer free revisions for stylistic decisions or other details that you want to add or change in my drawing that were not included in the description. If you want something specific, it must be included in the description. Subtle hue/saturation/value shifts count as stylistic decisions, and require additional compensation if you want to adjust them.If you do want to make changes to the image, even changes that are stylistic or outside the scope of the original description, then we can talk about it on a case-by-case basis. Just be prepared that I may charge for such changes.

WHAT I CHARGE EXTRA FOR:

◈ Wings (large ones that need me to design the picture composition around them.)
◈ Extremely detailed characters (Such as complex markings, hairstyles, multiple limbs..etc)
◈ Robotic parts
◈ Lots of scales|feathers
◈ Complex Armour
◈ Excessive jewelry
◈ Difficult or intricate costumes
◈ Use of my personal characters in a suggestive image with your own characters (Reserved for friends, or otherwise... ask me.)

I will draw NSFW content, but please know that I will not accept all offers. It highly depends on what I’m comfortable with. Please be very clear with what you are looking for in the description.NSFW ART IS CURRENTLY LIMITED TO SUPPORTERS

TIMEFRAME:
I try to get most commissions done within a reasonable time-frame, but as a human, life has the capacity to put things in my way. Thus I reserve the right to take extra time -within reason- to complete a commission unless a due-date was provided at the beginning of the contract.
I am transparent and will let you know if something has come up and I need a little extra time, as well as sending Work In Progress screenshots when I make notable progress or encounter something that needs your approval.

SCOPE OF WORKThe client must provide a detailed description of the work to be done, outlining all important visual aspects of the desired artwork. The information must be clear and to the point. This includes, but is not limited to:Physical descriptions of characters

Clothing and equipment

Environment, setting, period, scene, and mood, Character actions and expressions Visual references, such as drawings or photos, are recommended when outlining difficult to describe details.

MY RESPONSIBILITYThe artist is responsible for:
Revising any errors made from failing to follow the description outlined in the Scope of Work document. An example of such a failure would be drawing blue eyes when the description clearly stated green eyes.

Any unrequested additions that the artist may have made that weren't necessary, such as adding a scar to the face, when the description does not mention a scar. This is up to the client's discretion and should be discussed. However, any undefined aspect of the drawing that is necessary, such as a character's body type, is not the artist's responsibility to revise, if the client does not like the outcome. Any undefined, yet necessary aspect of the art falls under the artist's creative freedom. Using the above examples, a scar is not necessary, but a body type is.

The artist is NOT responsible for revising anything that is outside of the description in the Scope of Work document. This includes changes that are requested by the client that does not align with what is written in the scope of the work document. Even if the client decides they are not satisfied with the outcome of the original description, it is not the artist's responsibility to revise such changes. If the client wishes to have the artist make changes beyond what is outlined in the Scope of Work document, then a revision fee must be discussed and paid before such changes will be made.

"WING IT" COMMISSIONS:
Wing Its are a type of commission slot I often open for fun. They are controlled solely by myself.
I take your character and have fun with them. You are prompted to specify maturity rating to guide the pose/feeling of the piece, and perhaps give me an idea of the characters personality. However the rest of the piece is left up to me, it's a lot like a mystery commission in that you have little control over what you get. I will supply WIP shots of them posted in my discord, and only simple revisions are allowed, such as things I got wrong like eye colour, or scar in the wrong place. If you do not like the outcome of the wing it slot, there is very little I can do for you. You have to be alright with trusting me as the artist and commission me solely for my artistic vision and tastes. Just make sure you are aware of the nature of these slots before commissioning me for one.

Once you have received your finished commission:

You May:
Upload the web version of the image to your own free to view accounts, but please link back to me as credit.Use the image as an icon, ID, profile badge, but again, please give me credit.
You may not:
Use the image to generate revenue, even for me, without my permission.Put the image into Second Life, Pay sites, or anything of the like without express permission.Heavily edit the image. Do not crop out my watermark or signature.Manipulate me into changing the image we agreed on, for example, trying to get me to change parts that would conflict with themes that are on my "Will not draw" list.Guess my Payment address and send money without my permission. It will get sent right back to you; fees deducted are not my problem.

I cannot stop you from doing these things, but it will affect you, and I will think twice about doing work for you again in the future.

How to Pitch a Commission

I accept commissions on a 'pitch basis', so here’s a little bit about pitches.
A pitch is when you tell someone briefly and persuasively about an idea you have, with the goal of getting them to want to produce your idea. Good pitches distill the basic contents of the idea (in this case, a commission) into its most interesting and relevant parts. The best pitches do this in very few words.
When I review pitches, I do try to read the whole pitch, no matter how long it is. However, the shorter ones – that are to the point and include the information I want to know – tend to be the most successful.

Details to include in your pitch:+ A very quick summary of your character that lets me know roughly what kind of project this will be.
Example: A tiefling bard from my D&D game.
+ A description of what the composition will be. Example: A pinup, a scene, a portrait for avatar use.
+ Elements that are required for your idea. Example: It must take place on the beach.
+ Anything that might place the commission outside an average scope of work.
Example: Mechanical elements, extremely complex fantasy anatomy, text bubbles or cut-aways
Super helpful things that you could include that could increase my likelihood of accepting your pitch:+ A link to a character refsheet or gallery of reference images – I DO check these before accepting pitches and I find them really useful for deciding if it’s a project I think would be a good fit for meDetails not to include in your pitch (note: some of these can be useful later after your pitch is accepted):The narrative background for the setting or scene
Elements that are optional for your idea

Commission Details/References
Once I’ve accepted your commission, I’ll ask for more details and references. This is where you can be more long-form, and, really, almost anything goes. However, there are some things that are really helpful and some things that are really unhelpful. So here’s a list of that.
Describe things that I can draw.
In order to realize your idea, I need to have concrete visual information. This doesn’t necessarily mean I need images or reference pictures – i can work from text, but I prefer images. If you do - your text description needs to give me visual cues. In other words, only things that I can draw, and give me enough information to draw it in the way that you are imagining it.
If you’re not sure, read what you’ve written and ask yourself, “What does that look like?”Example:Bad: My character loves hot dogs and playing baseball
Good: My character wears a baseball jersey stained with ketchup

Don’t assume my interpretation of something is the same as yours.
We all have different life experiences. Try to avoid subjective or relative descriptions, and instead use units of measurement or concrete references.
Bad: My character is in good shape
Good: My character is 5’5″, weighs roughly 150lb, and here’s a link to a performer’s Insta who has a similar body type/shape
And: Some specific stuff for NSFW commissions that are necessary but which people forget/omit all the timePlease don’t forget to tell me:What anatomy your character has (please be specific… I don’t assume anatomy from pronouns or words like “woman” or “man”)
Whether your character has body hair, and if so, how they maintain it
That being said, do not send me photos of YOUR human genitalia in your reference kit. If you do this, I will cancel your commission and will not accept commissions from you in the future. (illustrated references, WHEN RELEVANT TO THE COMMISSION, are acceptable)

Stuff I like to see with Reference Character stuffIf you have one, obviously include your ref sheet.Previous commissions, preferably similar to the one I’m working on, and preferably with artist handles attached
If the commission involves clothing, it’s helpful for me to see examples of similar styles of clothing. If you can’t find visual references of this, it is really helpful for me if you include (in a text description), things like era, time period, geographic location, spec-fic genre (e.g. high fantasy, steampunk, post-apocalyptic)
Scene/scenario stuff
Description of the pose or position
Description of character expression
Background information on the scene if it’s relevant to the scene. Remember: Use descriptive words of things I can draw.
Stuff that I find irrelevant, not useful, or don’t like to see in a reference kitReally long background information/origin story that doesn’t have any bearing on the visual outcome of the piece. If you want to include this stuff in a commission, think about how you want it to surface in the image visually, and then tell me that information instead.-altered from soushiyo's how to commission page
